What Do Boulder Citizens Say about CU South?
"Flood plains are beyond precious as we face the deluges that will be unleashed by the climate crisis. Models based on 20th century assumptions are unlikely to portray what the future will bring. CU can build elsewhere--and the future of bricks and mortar education is very uncertain. If we build now, future generations will almost certainly wonder what we were thinking!!"
-Leslie G.
"The unbelievably deceptive marketing of this project is stunning and tragic. The CU South development is NOT a solution to flood control or affordable housing as CU and its proponents claim. The fact is that CU is proposing an inferior flood-control plan, a huge influx of new residents that need housing, and a daily increase of 6,000 cars. All this will put intolerable strain on South Boulder housing, traffic and climate mitigation efforts. Vote YES on 2F to repeal a bad annexation agreement."
- Lili F.
"I'm a frequent, year-round walker here, and I've seen firsthand the value of these wetlands during runoff season and during heavy rains. Whatever CU says it has planned for flood mitigation, it can't compete with this free, beautiful safety value."
- Melinda M.
"CU is preventing the City of Boulder from implementing much needed flood mitigation by holding out for an annexation that will pave the way for massive development of the open space in south Boulder. This is blackmail! Say no to annexation!"
- Steve D.
"200 suitable acres at N 28th St and N 26 St already in the City of Boulder Planning Reserve could be transferred from CU to the City with no cost. This land is an easy connection to the Mesa Reservoir and Boulder Ranch Open Space providing recreation and research for CU students and faculty."
- John L.
"The open space here is a treasure to this community and should not be razed by a greedy university. CU is already massive, what is there to gain by endless growth? I live in the Table Mesa neighborhood and cringe at the thought of thousands of additional vehicles on the road. This would dramatically affect me and my neighbors."
- Trevor W.
"In the not too distant future we will wake up one morning and realize there is no more water for growth in Boulder. Let's start now and stop the annexation and development of CU South Campus."
